– warm water  – activated dry yeast – sugar – all purpose flour  – cocoa powder – sea salt – granulated sugar – butter very soft – eggs – vanilla extract – milk  – red gel food colouring – sour cream  – vegetable oil  – custard  – cream cheese glaze

Stir together sifted dry ingredients and make a well. Add wet ingredients into the well and stir until a shaggy, sticky dough forms.

Rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Roll out to 3/4" thick and cut into hearts.

Let the hearts rise on parchment lined baking sheet until doubled in size.

Fry donuts in hot oil until golden on the outside and fully cooked in the middles. 

5.

Poke holes in the top and fill with custard. Dip the tops in cream cheese glaze and enjoy! They taste best the day they are fried and filled.
