Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

– 1 cup unsalted butter melted – ¾ cup brown sugar packed – ½ cup granulated sugar – ½ teaspoon sea salt – 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract – 1 large egg room temperature – 1 ¾ cup all purpose flour (210 g) – ½ teaspoon baking soda – ½ cup milk chocolate hearts – ½ cup mini semisweet chocolate chips

Combine butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk until combined. Add vanilla and egg.

Whisk until thickened and lightened in colour. You can do this by hand, it will take about 30 seconds with a wire whisk.

Sift flour and baking soda right into the same bowl. Fold to make a dough.

Scoop the dough into 12 large scoops onto a parchment lined baking sheet.

Shape each ball into a flat heart with your fingers. Press reserved chocolate chips onto the tops of the cookies. Chill for 45 minutes in the fridge or 20 minutes in the freezer.

Redefine the heart shape right after baking by pushing in any uneven edges with a spoon or spatula.
